DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — A 20-year-old man was deemed responsible for a four-vehicle accident Friday morning, including two head-on collisions, on U.S. Highway 331 south of Rock Hill Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Logan Rhodes of DeFuniak Springs was driving south on U.S. 331 in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at 7:40 a.m. when he rear-ended another southbound Silverado that was stopped in traffic.

The second Silverado was knocked into the northbound lane and struck a northound Dodge Journey head-on. The Journey then hit a tree off the side of the road, the FHP reported.

A fourth vehicle, a northbound Chevrolet Equinox, then hit the Silverado head-on, according to the FHP.

Andrew Partridge, 29, the driver of the second Silverado, was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast with serious injuries, the press release said. The driver of the Journey, 49-year-old Lisa Pitts, was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with critical injuries. The driver of the Equinox, 54-year-old Kimberly Sanders, also was taken to Sacred Heart with minor injuries.

Rhodes, who was not hurt, was charged with careless driving.
