Holy Week begins March 25 and there is a special experience happening at the Destin United Methodist Church Destin Life Center.

On Thursday, March 29, and Friday, March 30, The Journey to the Cross takes place from 12-8 p.m. This is a come and go, self-guided, interactive walk that will focus on Christ’s last day on Earth.

There will be 14 displays set up that will include artwork, thought provoking scenes, and hands-on examples of this time in Jesus’ life. The Life Center will be transformed into a garden and have a prayer area at the end for anyone who wishes to receive specific prayer or even process personally. There is no registration required.

In addition, on Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30, there is an opportunity to participate in the Upper Room Communion Experience. You will experience what it might have been like on that amazing night at the table in the Upper Room.

Groups of 24 will be led by a pastor in Holy Communion. The table is open to all. However, you must reserve your place at the table and sign up online. There will be groups of 24 every 30 minutes between the hours of noon and 8 p.m.

Whether you would like to experience this with your family, friends, small groups, individually or Bible study, it is a great way to understand more fully what the disciples may have been feeling, and the love that was poured out for us.

This is the second year for this event and there is a continued excitement about offering this time and space for reflections on the gospel message, sacrifice of Jesus, and resurrection power of Christ for the community.

It will held in the Destin Life Center at the Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive. To register for the Upper Room Experience, visit www.destinumc.org, Facebook, or call 850-837-2021.
