WALTON COUNTY — A driver was cited for careless driving after causing a wreck on I-10 Saturday night.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Joseph Barone of Westville, Florida was traveling eastbound on I-10 near mile marker 71 in the outside lane around 8:25 p.m. Saturday in a 2017 Ford F150.

While attempting to change into the inside lane, the front of Barone's vehicle collided with the rear of a 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by 60-year-old Rebecca Skinner of Quincy, Florida. The Toyota rotated counter clockwise, crossed the inside lane and then collided with a concrete barrier wall. Barone over-corrected, and his vehicle rolled over coming to a rest on its passenger side, the release said.

Skinner did not receive any injuries from the crash. Barone and two passengers, 30-year-old Barbara Barone and 7-year-old Joseph Barone were all transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center for minor injuries. All parties involved were wearing seat belts.

The crash caused I-10 to be shut down for approximately one hour and 20 minutes as first responders worked to make sure the area was safe, occupants were cared for and the tow truck could remove the vehicles, the release said.

Barone was cited for careless driving.
