TROY - Tuscaloosa Academy finished fifth in the AISA golf state championship at Troy Country Club on Tuesday.
TA’s second round 319 was the third best round of the day and the team’s second best of the season. The Knights were led by senior Harrison Howell’s final round 2-under 69, to finish ninth as an individual (83-69-152).
Rounding out TA’s scoring was William Beeker (77-80-157), Logan Harris (89-83-172), third-grader Anna Christian Beeker (92-87-179), who also took medalist honors for lowest girls score, and Walt Denney (92-90-182).
Morgan Academy won the team title.
Tuscaloosa County 10,
Halie Jones hit a three-run home run and had five RBIs to help lead Tuscaloosa County. Danielle Booth went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Maddie Parks went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Parks also picked up the win in six innings pitched. She gave up seven hits and struck out four.
For Brookwood, Felicity Frame went 3-for-4, Bailee Butler went 2-for-3 with a double and Brianna Short went 2-for-3. Kamryn Murdock picked up the loss.
TCHS (27-13) hosts Hillcrest on Monday.
GORDO -- Bethany Vinston picked up the win in five innings, gave up three hits and struck out four. Sydney Savage recorded the loss.
Gordo’s Taylor Clegg and Chloe Harville went 2-for-4 with two runs. Kaylee Quimby went 3-for-3 and had three runs and three RBIs. Ansley Wells went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
For Northridge, both Samantha Savage and Mary Katherine Winfield went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Larson Jackson went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
Gordo (13-22) hosts Hillcrest on Thursday.
Lamar County 3
Northside’s Carson Beatty finished with four hits, including a double, and had three RBIs. Riley Grace Honeycutt doubled, had two singles and an RBI.
Savannah Stamps (14-11) picked up the win in four innings pitched. She gave up four hits, struck out three and walked two.
Northside (29-17) travels to Hale County on Wednesday.
Jaguars shutout Saints
Josue Garcia scored two goals for Northridge and Hunter Harris had one in a 3-0 victory against Holy Spirit. Northridge hosts Opelika on Friday in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
