SANTA ROSA BEACH — A woman was arrested after police said she swung at her neighbors with metal bars.
The two victims, a woman and her husband, told police they were standing outside their home when their 41-year-old neighbor approached them and began cursing.
The husband told her she was being rude and tried to walk away, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, but the woman continued yelling and cursing at him.
She then grabbed a rebar pipe and swung it at the man, but missed and struck his wife in the leg. The wife pushed the woman down to try and prevent another attack, and she and her husband ran inside to call 911.
The woman, however, followed them into their yard and grabbed a 5-foot-long metal corner bar, aggressively swinging it in an attempt to strike the man behind the head. She missed and struck the trailer.
When deputies arrived, the woman told them she was pushed over by the man as she attempted to speak with him. She said she swung at the house only, and not at the couple.
Witness and victim statements led authorities to arrest the 41-year-old woman, who was taken to the Walton County Jail for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault without intent to kill.
