WALTON COUNTY — A DeFuniak Springs man died Thursday night after being hit by a Jeep while walking along U.S. Highway 331 near Indian Creek Ranch Road.
Paul Jeffrey Newcombe, 57, of DeFuniak Springs, was the victim of the hit-and run accident, according to a press release from Florida Highway Patrol.
A dark-colored Jeep Wrangler, possibly brown or bronze in color, was traveling north on U.S. 331 when the driver collided with Newcombe.
The driver of the Jeep continued north from the scene on U.S. 331 without stopping, the press release said.
A witness said he saw the pedestrian lying on the ground prior to being struck by the Jeep.
