PANAMA CITY BEACH — A 5-year-old boy from Dothan, Alabama, died after being pulled from the Gulf of Mexico behind Sterling Breeze condominiums Saturday night, according to Panama City Beach police.

PCBPD, Panama City Beach Fire, and Beach and Surf rescue arrived beachside at the condos, located at 16701 Front Beach Road, around 5:30 p.m. in response to swimmers in distress. Surf flags were flying single red at the time.

Emergency crews discovered three swimmers — Tatum Idolor, Aaron Flowers and 5-year-old Christian Doyle, all from Dothan -- had been pulled from the Gulf.

A bystander and a Beach and Surf rescuer began performing CPR on Christian. Paramedics took over CPR on Christian and transported him to Bay Medical Center.

Police scanner reports indicated that paramedics were flushing “copious” amounts of water from Doyle’s lungs while en route to the hospital and were fighting heavy traffic along Back Beach Road.

Paramedics continued performing CPR on Doyle, but he later died at the hospital.
