Whalen graduates from basic
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Brandon C. Whalen graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Whalen earned distinction as an honor graduate.
He is the son of Michael and Evelyn Whalen of La Habra, Calif. Whalen is also the brother of Sean Whalen.
The airman graduated in 2013 from South Walton High School, Santa Rosa Beach, and earned a bachelor's degree in 2017 from the University of West Florida in Pensacola.
Velcoff on Dean's List at Belmont
Emma Velcoff of Santa Rosa Beach qualified for the spring 2018 Dean's List at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Eligibility for the Dean's List is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.
Campbell makes Cumberland's Dean's List
Kellianne Campbell of Santa Rosa Beach was recently named to the Samford University Cumberland School of Law Dean’s List for the spring 2018 term.
To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.0 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 10 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.
