FREEPORT — A 32-year-old man was arrested for aggravated battery and public intoxication causing a disturbance after hitting someone in the head with a glass beer mug.

When a Walton County sheriff’s deputy arrived at the Lucky Star Saloon in reference to a fight in the parking lot, the victim told him a man struck him in the head with a beer mug.

The victim was being treated by EMS on scene and was later taken to the hospital for stitches. The man who allegedly hit him in the head with the glass was heavily intoxicated when the deputy tried to speak with him, the report said.

The man told the deputy he didn’t do anything wrong and he was “being held down by several people for no reason.” The deputy watched the bar’s surveillance video and saw the man hit the victim in the head with the mug.

The bartender told the deputy the man had about two pitchers of beer at the bar.
