SANTA ROSA BEACH — A 23-year-old man was arrested when police say he rear-ended his ex-girlfriend’s car in a grocery store parking lot.

The man and woman were exes, but still worked together at a restaurant on County Road 30A, according to a report from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. On June 10 the woman was attempting to drive away from her ex-boyfriend and he got in his car and followed her.

She drove all the way to a grocery store on U.S. Highway 98 and realized he was following her. She tried to leave but had to stop to allow pedestrians to cross. That’s when the boyfriend rear-ended her car with his, according to the report.

The woman said she was scared and continued to drive until she lost him.

The Mexico Beach man was located, arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
