PANAMA CITY — A Panama City man was killed Saturday night after he apparently stepped into the path of an oncoming vehicle, lawmen say.

The male, 56-year-old Tracey Wayne McDaniel, was walking on Thomas Drive about 7:25 p.m. when he tried to cross the road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

He stepped into the path of a 2006 Ford Explorer driven by 33-year-old Kathie Ann Reissig, also of Panama City, and was thrown into the southbound lanes.

Alcohol was not a factor and the FHP did not say if charges would be filed against Reissig.

An earlier FHP press release misidentified the gender of the victim.
