A new real estate company has opened in South Walton, but with old familiar faces.

Bobby Johnson opened 30A Local Properties in June with broker/partner Jack Emerick and called on his old partner, Garner Chandler, to come rejoin him.

Johnson and Chandler worked together selling real estate from 2007 to 2010 before going their separate ways. But with Johnson back in town and striking out on his own, rejoining forces just seemed right.

"We have such an incredibly good working relationship that it made perfect sense,” said Chandler .  “We get along well, we laugh, have fun and keep a professional decorum. Everyone loved working with us. We always got positive feedback from agents and title companies."

Chandler has vacationed in the area since the early 1960s and has old home movies that were made of her crying when she had to leave the beach. Chandler and her husband began vacationing here as a couple in the mid-1980s when Seaside was being built, and bought their beach house here in 2001.

"John thought if he bought the beach house I would get it out of my system of wanting to move here," she says with a laugh. "But I would cry all the way to Tupelo every time we had to go back home to Memphis ."

John finally gave up and quit his commercial banking job and the family moved to the beach full time 10 years ago, relocating their middle school children. He now owns Yellowfin Ocean Sports, which has three locations.
