A fashion ‘Dynasty’: Local designer connects with reality TV star

"When we met, she connected with me, and I with her ... we're both from the South," said Carter. "So, I said, 'Ok, let's do it'."

Carter said she had received requests from fans for longer hemlines before, but she never got around to it.

"My dresses were selling, and if it's not broken, don't fix it," she said. "But Missy inspired me."

Incidentally, Carter does watch "Duck Dynasty" because her 6.5-year-old son loves the show.

"He thinks it's so cool," she said. "When I began Judith March in 2009, I never dreamed something like this would happen. But I have been so busy that I don't have time to think about it. In the mornings I am in mommy mode, then work, then back to mommy mode when he comes home from school. By the time he falls asleep, I am too tired to think about it. I just walk through the doors God opens for me.

“I have no idea where it will lead,” she continues, “but I hope it will make women happier. As women get older, they still feel young and don't want to look like they shopped out of their mother's closet."
