Fair condition reported from teenager sent to Sacred Heart Hospital after accident
A teenager is listed in "fair" condition at Sacred Heart Childrens Hospital in Pensacola tonight after being involved in a two car accident last night, according to Mike Burke, public relations for Sacred Heart Childrens Hospital.
Driver Destin Hulsey, 17, and passenger Lindsay Clauson, 15, were waiting to make a U-turn onto eastbound U.S. 98, when for unknown reasons Hulsey pulled in front of another vehicle, occupied by Jared and Merinda Vause, 25 and 23, respectively.
According to the accident report, the second vehicle tried to make evasive actions by swerving onto the outside lane but didn't have enough time. It struck the left side of the first vehicle and continued across the eastbound lanes of U.S. 98, while the first vehicle struck a nearby utility pole, stopping on the eastbound shoulder of U.S. 98.
At the time of the accident, no injuries were reported by the Vause's, however Hulsey was listed in serious condition and Clauson was listed as having minor injuries.
The FHP ruled out alcohol being involved and all parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
