A Destin restaurant on the docks will host an afternoon of musical entertainment, alcoholic beverages and barbecued food this weekend — with the Destin Fishing Rodeo as a backdrop.
The AJ’s Blues, Brews & BBQ event kicks off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 116 Harbor Blvd. in Destin.
“We started it two years ago in connection with the Hog Rally,” said Tracy McCraw, marketing director at AJ’s. “The title of the event for the two years of the Hog Rally was Blues, Brews, Bikes and BBQ,” adding that bikers from the Panama City-based Thunder Beach are welcome to join in on the fun Saturday.
The Emerald Coast Blues Brothers and The Monacos band will play at 2 p.m. at Club Bimini, the exterior bar at AJ’s.
McCraw said the Emerald Coast Blues Brothers perform more than just blues.
“They’re a wonderful band,” he said “They do a little of everything — they’re eclectic.”
The barbecue will be provided by Bass Pro Shop.
“We’ll also be serving our signature AJ’s Sunset Lager,” McCraw said.
There will be Octoberfest beer specials with souvenir beer glasses offered as well. When you purchase a 16-ounce glass of beer, you receive a souvenir glass specially offered by AJ’s in honor of the Destin Fishing Rodeo.
The glass is decorated with the official Destin Fishing Rodeo logo on one side and the Bud Light logo on the other, as Bud Light is a sponsor of the rodeo.
“People are coming to AJ’s for something a little bit different,” McCraw said. “It really is a very simple event.”
