Alaqua Animal Refuge in
The owner of two rescue dogs and a huge supporter of rescue organization and non profits, Haney heard about Alaqua and the things owner Laurie Hood does there and wanted to meet her.
He drove out to the refuge, met Hood, and was so impressed that he wanted to help her in her endeavor to save and find homes for all homeless animals that she can.
Consequently, Haney created the Black Dog Cellars Rescue and Assistance Fund for Alaqua to use at Hood's discretion.
Already sponsoring the Unconditional Love Program which trains rescues to be companion pets for persons with special needs, Haney had a special request that some of those be offered to Wounded Warriors through the Pets For Patriots program. In addition, its Black Dog Cellars Rescue & Assistance Fund will contribute and assist with Pets for Patriots.
Dogs in the Unconditional Love program go through 10 weeks of training with graduates receiving a certificate.
"Then, when we get a request for a suitable companion for special companions such as the Pets For Patriots, the person will come to the shelter and meet the dogs that are eligible and hopefully they will bond with one. If they do, the dog will then go back into training so they can meet the particular need," explained Hood.
Haney is the owner of two black dogs that he rescued and used their likeness on his wine labels.
"I have two passions in life — wine and dogs — so, I decided to put them together," he said.
Haney is passionate and enthusiastic about supporting local community non-profit organizations whose mission is dedicated to enhancing the lives of dogs and pets.
As part of its Community Mission Programs in each city/state that Black Dog Cellars are distributed and sold in, a percentage of annual sales of Black Dog Cellars wines and merchandise goes to assist its Community Mission Partners and other nonprofit charity organizations. Black Dog Cellars sponsors fundraising events, auctions, festivals, and dinners, and donates wine.
When he does a special event, Haney has now pledged to donate all proceeds to Alaqua.
"We can't thank them enough for their generosity," said Hood.
Those who want to help the cause may donate by going to http://www.blackdogcellarswine.com/donate.
"Black Dog Cellars is honored and proud to partner with Alaqua Animal Refuge as a member of the Communities Mission Partners Program," said Haney.
