The Friends of the Walton County Coastal Branch Library’s October Book Sale was a huge success. Many thanks to all the volunteers and the community for continuing to support our branch.

Friends of the Coastal Branch is honored to have Wynoka Terry’s work on display during November at the Coastal Branch. Terry, a native of eastern Arkansas, first discovered the inspiring colors of nature in the rice fields near Pine Tree, Ark. She has a degree from the University of Memphis, and has trained at the Memphis College of Art and Anderson Ranch Art School in Colorado. Wynoka was awarded Best of Show, member competition, during this year’s ArtsQuest Juried Art Show.

Terry and her husband have enjoyed homes in the area for more than 20 years and now reside in a beachside home designed by Wynoka in Santa Rosa Beach. Wynoka regularly participates in cultural activities and studies with local artists. She can often be found walking along the white sand beaches with family or friends at sunset, gaining inspiration for her paintings from the natural beauty she so enjoys.

In other business, the Friends of the Coastal Branch Library and the Green Thumb Garden Club will hold a fundraiser on Jan. 25, 2014. Fabulous book themed floral arrangements, activities and demonstrations are included in this exciting event. Make plans to attend and support your Library.

The Walton County Coastal Branch Library is hosting “Tail Waggin’ Tutors” through November.  Children are invited to read to dogs every Tuesday. Featured recently on the front page of The Walton Sun, this is a children’s reading incentive program presented by Therapy Dogs, along with their handlers. Visit the library and meet Duffy, the 3-year old Highland Terrier, Isabelle, the show dog poodle and Sydney , a 10-year-old Australian Shepherd for a blast of reading fun. Pre-registration is required. Continuing programs include the Lego Club on Monday and the Pre-School story hour on Thursday.

The Friends welcome new members. Anyone wishing to join please contact the Coastal Branch.  For program information and registration, please contact Linda Thompson, 437 Greenway Trail, Santa Rosa Beach, 850-267-2809 or www.youseemore.com/walton.
