Bass fishing in Freeport for Children in Crisis
A charity bass tournament for Children in Crisis will be held on Aug. 7 on Alaqua Creek in Freeport. When Children are removed from a home by authorities Children In Crisis provides foster care for them. The organization has three homes in Ft. Walton Beach that serve Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Escambia counties.
A tournament meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Gazebo at Hammock Bay, 1850 Great Hammock Bend, Freeport.The entry fee is $110. Must be registered prior to 7:00 p.m. Friday night when the pre-tournament meeting will be held. American General Life Assurance will match all monies raised at tournament to go to Children in Crisis.
At least one person from each boat must attend this meeting. Guaranteed $3,000 first place, one place paid for every 7 anglers after that.
There are plenty of things planned for attendees not fishing from vending, displays, food, raffle drawings for prize packages during the day at Hammock Bay to live entertainment. Brooke Wood Smith will perform live from 10:30 a.m. until weigh-in. Participants don’t have to fish to enter the $3,500 worth of merchandise being raffled off. Some prize packages are worth over $750. Will be great deal, good tournament for a great cause.
Weigh ins begin at 2 p.m. at Hammock Bay
Launch location will be Alaqua Creek on Hwy 20 west of Freeport.
Weigh-in and parking will be inside Hammock Bay.
