Santa Rosa Beach man convicted on drug charges
A 45-year-old Santa Rosa Beach man was convicted in court Wednesday on four separate drug charges.
Garnett Lee Melton was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell or manufacture, trafficking amphetamines, narcotic equipment possession and drug possession, said a Walton County Sheriff’ press release.
Melton was arrested in March 2009 after deputies found him among several chemicals and equipment associated with meth labs at a home on Indian Woman Road in Santa Rosa Beach, the release said.
In May 2009, Melton fled the area while out of jail on a $50,000 bond. Through tips from Crime Stoppers last September, deputies found Melton at a home on Bay Grove Road in Freeport, the release said.
Melton will be sentenced in Walton County on April 8, the release said.
