BLOUNTSTOWN -- With almost 600 yards of offense, the Blountstown Tigers struck early and didn't let up to post a 48-14 win over the South Walton High Seahawks in varsity football action.

On the first play from scrimmage, Blountstown's Shontavious Peterson broke loose for a 75-yard scamper down the right sideline for the score. Andrew Bennett kicked in the point after and the Tigers were on the board in the first 20 seconds of play.

South Walton, however, failed to make a first down and was forced to punt.

"They were big and physical," said South Walton Coach Phil Tisa. "Our last two opponents have been very good teams."

Last week the Seahawks lost to a much bigger Walton County High team, who suffered an overtime loss to Blountstown a couple of weeks ago.

On the punt, Blountstown brought the ball out to its 41-yard line and again struck quickly. On the first play, quarterback Hunter Jordan connected with Tripp Taylor on a route who took it 59 yards for the score. Bennett kicked in the point after and the Tigers were up 14-0 in the first two minutes of play.

The Tigers, who tallied 411 yards on the ground, had five players put touchdowns on the board. Shontavious Peterson who scored the first TD of the game rushed four times for 143 yards and two scores, the second a 57-yarder. Alex Mayorga carried the ball 11 times for 88 yards and a touchdown. Corin Peterson rushed two times for 42 yards, including a 38-yard run for the goal line and a 14-yard catch for a TD.
