Bay County fugitive arrested in Brooklyn, NY

BROOKLYN, NY — A Bay County fugitive was arrested in Brooklyn, NY with the help of WMBB’s Wheel of Justice and a Crime Stoppers tip.

Marion Bernard Welch, 29, was wanted on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment by the Lynn Haven Police Department.

After Welch was featured on the Wheel of Justice, a Crime Stoppers tip told authorities he could be found in Brooklyn. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division coordinated with the U.S. Marshals Service in New York, and Welch was located at a homeless shelter and arrested without incident, according to a news release from BCSO.

“Sheriff McKeithen credits the close working relationship between the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Lynn Haven Police Department, WMBB, Crime Stoppers and the U.S. Marshals Service with the capture of Welch,” Maj. Tommy Ford wrote in the release.
