BUZ LIVINGSTON: Sometimes nothing is a cool hand

Walton Sun Breaking News

After working with military retirees, a looming pension cost of living adjustment set off alarm bells. Despite what you may read, rest assured, no military pension cost of living adjustment will be affected this year or next.  The much-maligned COLA adjustment would not kick in until December 2015.  Before then something will be worked out to rescind the reductions, bet the ranch.

What I find total Bravo Sierra are congressmen tripping over themselves to set up news conferences to denounce the COLA adjustment after supporting sequester cuts which were more drastic and severe than the budget deal. As Shakespeare wrote, “Few love to hear the sins they love to act”.

According to Military.com over 900,000 veterans lost Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits last October.  In Florida alone, over 100,000 vets saw SNAP benefits reduced.

Since most veterans don’t have pensions, we should never cut any veteran’s SNAP benefit.  They earned it.
