Crestview man killed during police chase
A 36-year-old Crestview man was killed while being pursued by city police.
Steven Wayne Dague was killed around 11 p.m. on State Road 85, north of State Road 8, in Okaloosa County.
Dague was being pursued by the Crestview Police Department as he traveled south in the northbound lanes of SR 85, according to the report filed by the Florida Highway Patrol.
A police car driven by 55-year-old Robert J. Price was traveling northbound in the left lane of SR 85 with emergency lights activated.
Dague traveled into the center grass median and hit an arrow board and then collided with the police cruiser, which investigators say had veered into the median for an unknown reason.
Dague was pronounced dead at the scene.
Price sustained only minor injuries. SR 85 was closed for a brief period after the wreck.
