South Walton Fire District's Technical Rescue Team was called to a WaterSound home yesterday after a construction worker had fallen from a three-story house.

The man was painting the exterior of the house, located at 48 Shingle Lane , from the third story when he lost his balance and fell to the second floor balcony.

"It appeared he shattered his ankle and couldn't get down the stairs due to the construction," said Sammy Sanchez, fire marshal at SWFD.

After assessing the man, the tech crew lowered the patient from the roof using ropes and a ladder.

"The tech rescue team is specially trained for these kinds of rescues," Sanchez said.

The man was conscious and alert. SWFD transferred him to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast .
