Crow's nest: Tommy Crow takes photography to a new level
Always drawn to the cutting edge in the world of photography, Tommy Crow is again leading the way in his realm of expertise.
Tommy Crow Collections opened the first of July in Rosemary Beach, featuring the latest trends in photographic methods.
Specializing in helping companies create advertising campaigns and images, the photographer now has a place for clients to go and see what is possible.
In his latest works, Crow is taking individual photographs and repositioning them on various objects to create unique juxtapositions.
Surfboards, silk sheers and room dividers are now canvases for his work.
“We’re bringing a different style of photo artwork instead of regular photos of scenes or landscapes,” he said. “I saw an opening for a new style in a category to produce artwork relative to this area. These are elements shot here, but now they are not just beach pictures or shells but conceptual photos. I can recompose shots together or individually to create a piece that is truly photo artwork and not just a photographic scene.”
Crow has spent 30 years making a name for himself in the realm of photography. He felt the time was right to come out from behind the camera in opening his conceptual studio.
Crow moved from Atlanta six years ago, where he owned his own studio for 15 years.
“I could have chosen to move anywhere, but I saw a place where I could bring my experience where it was needed,” he said.
In making the move from Santa Rosa Beach to Rosemary, Crow said he looked for the perfect spot and space to showcase what he is doing.
Located at 38 Main St., Crow’s studio is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. “most days.”
He also uses the space to show art movies almost nightly and plans to host other events in the adjoining courtyard.
