Three dead in area vehicle accidents
An accident around 10:30pm Tuesday ads two more fatalities to our area after a body catapulted through the air strikes another driver. The FHP says Washington County Road 279 is a two lane road three miles south of I-10. Apparently 32-year-old Carlton Jacobs of Panama City Beach was driving a 2006 Triumph motorcycle north on 279. At the same time, a 2005 Toyota Rav4, driven by 26-year-old Richard L.C. Eades of DeFuniak Springs, was going south. The FHP says the motorcycle was traveling north in the southbound lane and struck the Toyota. Jacobs was ejected from the bike and catapulted through the Toyota's windshield. He struck Eades causing fatal injuries. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Jacobs had no helmet. Drug/alcohol testing is pending. Eades, who was struck from the front, was wearing a seat belt.
An accident Monday night in Holmes County resulted in another area fatality. The FHP says 59-year-old Jerry Prescott of Westville was traveling north on Highway 163 near Scott Road when he lost control and traveled onto the shoulder. The car rolled over and partially ejected Prescott, who was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
