Attention South Walton and 30A animal lovers: Mark your calendars and help get the word out. Local game company, 30A Games, has announced a one-week long fundraiser to benefit the Alaqua Animal Refuge. Beginning Monday April 8 and extending through Sunday, April 14, $10 from every Monopoly: Visit South Walton Edition game sold at the 30A Games website (www.30AGames.com) or at any of the local retailers carrying the game will go directly to benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge.
“A lot of people came together to help bring South Walton an officially licensed Hasbro Monopoly game,” said 30A Games Founder George Wickey. “We’re all very proud and excited that the game created to promote our area and entertain our visitors and locals can also be used to help causes near and dear to us such as Alaqua.”
Alaqua Animal Refuge is a no-kill animal shelter/adoption organization that provides true refuge for more than 250 animals at any given time. Alaqua has its own Chance Card (SoWal.com card) in the local Monopoly edition. It is one of several local nonprofit organizations to be featured in the game along with South Walton/30A beach towns, natural wonders, signature events, art galleries, destination restaurants and more.
“We love that we are featured in our area’s official Monopoly game,” said Alaqua Animal Refuge president and founder Laurie Hood. “We are so appreciative of this fundraiser and hope that Alaqua fans come out in droves to buy the game that week. We appreciate the support!”
To ensure future participation in fundraisers for other worthy local organizations, 30A Games will cap the number of games tied to the Alaqua fundraiser at 1,000 ($10,000 donation). In the event this milestone is reached it will be clearly and immediately posted at the 30A Games website and this news will be pushed out through the game’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/MonopolyVisitSouthWalton).
Like all official special edition Hasbro Monopoly games, the game’s retail price is $39.95. For a list of local retailers carrying the game or to order online, visit 30AGames.com. For more information about the Alaqua fundraiser, also visit 30AGames.com.
