With that, the South Walton Ministerial Association agreed to begin blessing South Walton. Twelve churches including the pastoral office at
"South Walton has never had much unity before. It's all so spread out with 26 miles and about 15 different small communities," Scheler said. "We don't have a center. Our center is Christ. This has brought us pastors together."
The South Walton Week of Blessings is based off of Destin's model, even carrying the same motto, "One church, many congregations."
"I feel like we were called to do this," explained Scheler. "And it's just the beginning. We're looking at other ways to help those that are broken. Some people think that churches as always trying to get stuff, when we're really just trying to give stuff."
Scheler and fellow pastors will be making stops throughout the week in different South Walton spots and will also be available for house calls should any families want a pastor to visit and bless their home or organization.
"We hope to spread a sense of gratitude and inspiration," Scheler said. "We hope people will see that we are blessed and to share that blessing with others."
This year, Scheler will be on double-duty as he will continue to participate in Destin's Week of Blessings as well as South Walton's.
"I'm still going to bounce back and forth," he said. "I'm grateful to be apart of it. It's such a neat thing to be able to put our arms around the community."
