NEWS RELEASE:

On June 3, Walton County deputies conducted a vehicle burglary investigation at the Edgewater condominiums located at 291 Scenic Gulf Drive.  While there, Deputies learned that several items were taken from a vehicle including an iPod, jewelry, and credit cards.  During this time deputies spoke with witnesses who saw a Hispanic male in the parking garage at the time of the burglary.

On June 4, deputies returned to the location to conduct a follow up investigation of the burglary when a witness came forward and revealed that a Hispanic male by the name of Christian Orcutt who was staying with her on vacation may be the suspect in the burglary.  It was during this time that a second victim was identified who had a firearm stolen out of their vehicle.

Deputies then made contact with Christian Paul Orcutt of Woodstock Georgia who also matched the description given by witnesses the prior day.  Mr. Orcutt subsequently confessed to the auto burglaries and then led Investigators to the property stolen out the vehicles which was returned to the rightful owners.

Sheriff Adkinson stated “The cooperation between deputies and citizens shows that together we can make our community safer.”

Mr. Orcutt was charged with armed burglary of a conveyance, grand theft of a firearm, grand theft, and criminal mischief and was transported to the Walton County Jail.  Additional charges are pending.
