A Miramar Beach man wanted on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and false imprisonment in Walton County took his own life early this morning following an approximate six hour stand-off with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators learned the 28-year-old Blake Seamster, who was known to be in possession of firearms, had checked into the Fairfield Inn on 12th Avenue in Shalimar early Sunday morning. The OCSO Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Unit responded and made contact with the man, who barricaded his room and refused to leave.

As a precaution, the hotel was evacuated and traffic was re-routed on nearby roads.

The stand-off ended around 2 a.m. Monday morning when the subject took his own life inside his room on the building’s third floor.

His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Additional details will be released at the appropriate time.
