Who needs Fat Tuesday when you have Seaside Saturday and Sunday?

Seaside will celebrate Mardi Gras a couple of days early this year. The town is rolling out an action-packed weekend with the Community Yard Sale set for Feb. 9, and their family-friendly Mardi Gras festivities following on Feb. 10.

"It will be a big weekend for Seaside for both the young and young-at-heart," said Event Producer Adam Shiland.

The fun kicks off at 8 a.m. Saturday when the always-popular Community Yard Sale is officially set to open.

But yard sale vendor Amanda Thomas, operations manager of Déjà Vu Boutique, said women start lining up long before then; with some arriving as the sun is rising.

Déjà Vu typically has four tables and numerous racks of pretty women's clothing set up at the western corner of the Seaside Amphitheater where they historically do quite well every time.

"I believe the store has participated every year. Our girls get so excited," she said of the salesclerks.
