Matsuriza Taiko Drummers to perform at Celebrity Waiter Dinner

Walton Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the world renowned Matsuriza Taiko Drummers will perform at the fourth annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner Aug.19. 

Matsuriza began in 1983 at the Epcot Japan Pavilion of Walt Disney World in Orlando and embodies spirit, technique, body and etiquette, which come through the fundamentals of Bushido, the code of the Samurai … the most important message for Japanese.

The Matsuriza is made up of five drummers who will perform during the evening’s festivities.

“Celebrities” throughout the Greater Walton Area will serve food while dressed in attire reflecting this year’s theme, “Waiters of the World … With International Flair.” 

Representing a variety of global cultures, from “Ancient Greece” to the “In Vogue Culture of Paris, France,” celebrity waiters will bring their guests with them as they rewind or fast forward in time.

Valencia Williamson, vice president of Walton Area Chamber of Commerce said, “We are thrilled to have the Matsuriza Taiko at the event, as it will be their first performance in Northwest Florida.”

The fourth annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The Celebrity VIP Reception begins at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $75. A training session will be held Aug. 18 at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. All volunteers must attend. Each volunteer will be assigned a specific task and is encouraged to dress in a costume reflecting the theme of the event.
