WZEP AM 1460

Tuesday, Walton County Circuit Judge Kelvin Wells sentenced 29-year-old Kirk Williams to death for killing, 48-year-old Susan Dykes. You might remember the live reports on First News of the murder investigation after Dykes' body was found in a lake in Holmes county and from the murder scene just west of DeFuniak Springs. Williams, was found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder in February and the jury recommend the death penalty.

During the trial an inmate testified Williams told him he killed Dykes. Information about Williams' drug habit and multi trips to the bank to take money out of Dykes' account to purchase drugs was also brought out. The trial had information about Dykes' bloody trailer, a baseball bat and clothes being moved and the how the body was moved and dumped. In his ruling, Judge Wells gave the death sentence based on these facts.
