Twenty years later Trujillo still says there is not a better place to have a small business.

"The people who come here appreciate art. It's a public that is very pleasurable with which to work," she says.

Some of the artists’ works she carries in her gallery are artists she started with when she opened.

"I believe you have to keep work fresh and not stay the same. I have been privileged to work with artists who understand that concept and that makes it easier," she said.

Trujillo represents around 300 artists, some who have been with her for 20 years. The artists' works represent a wide genre. At Newbill you will find ceramic sculptures made in Tallahassee, jewelry made by an artist in New Orleans, glass items blown in Chattanooga, wood pieces, photography, folk art, garden art, and paintings — all original and limited editions housed in her 650 square feet of space.

The locale doesn't hurt either.

"This is a safe little vacation town and it's civil," she said. "You don't have to worry about things like you do in a big city."
