LETTER: After oil spill it's time to pump up the volume
Now what?
BP has apparently killed their oil well permanently, but their secret is no secret anymore.
Oil companies have always withheld information about their drilling activities. Except for the tragic blowout three months ago, I doubt any of us would have ever heard the name “Deepwater Horizon.”
Why are we buying oil halfway round the world from countries that do not like us and who control the supply and price? While waiting for our smart minds to invent a fuel to drive the engines that make electricity and move our vehicles, why do we not tap the vast resource literally under our feet? Control the market and bring the price down. Dollar a gallon gasoline would do more for all Americans to boost the economy and reduce the national debt than any other one thing Congress and the president might now do.
Pump, Baby, Pump.
