PARTY LINE: Bridal showers, birthday parties and Cattle Baron branding

Friends of Denise Earles presented her with a YOLO board as a bridal shower gift last Friday at a party at Wine World at WaterColor. All shower attendees signed the pink board and offered the bride to be words of wisdom for her upcoming married life. Melissa Davis, Marti Schmidt, Jan Carter, Lindsay Watts, and Pauline Sutcliffe were among those who enjoyed the party.

There was also a good crowd there who had come for the weekly wine tasting. Serving some of the most excellent French white wine I have tasted was Cassie Cox. Her dad, Chan, was also there.

The same night, Paul Vizard celebrated his 50th birthday at Santa Rosa Beach Club with wife, Redd, Linda Evans, Julie Brown, and Carl Hardin, among others.

I enjoyed another fab brunch at Cuvee Bistro on Sunday. The poached eggs and shrimp Rockefeller did not disappoint. Nor did Cheryl Jones’ distinctive voice.

I took in viewing the newly-released “Secretariat.” As a horse enthusiast, it also did not disappoint. Even though we knew the impending ending and Diane Lane overdid it, no one moved until the credits rolled. Nice.

The Cattle Baron’s Ball held its second Branding Party Tuesday night for sponsors and sponsor wannabes at Ruth’s Chris. Attendees included Kay Phelan, Gwen Break, Vicki and Jim Matthews, Ampy and Fred Cox, Betty and Charles White, Myra and Michael Williams, Jessica Proffitt, Marlene Freeman, Mary Kay Phillips, Steve Brewer, Joe Serrato, Traci and Matt Markel, Stacey Brady, Zandra Wolfgram, Donna Johns, Jack and Candis Wilson, Clayburn and Sherry Frazier, Dennis Lichorwic, Sandy and Greg Buckley, Alicia Flynn, and William Schissler were among those appreciating the talents of saxman Michael J Thomas.

WaterColor Inn & Resort was featured on The Today Show Oct. 13 when Travel+Leisure magazine discussed the Top 50 best family hotels in North America. WaterColor was voted No. 2.

Congratulations to 92-year-old Santa Rosa Beach resident Art Ousley who was on the recent Honor Flight to Washington D.C. with 100 other World War II veterans.

Fred and Ampy Cox’s youngest son, Alex, married in Atlanta’s Hurst Park last weekend on 10-10-10. The reception was held at the Wisteria. Alex’s brothers, Eddy and Tony, flew in from Miami and New York for the event.

Nina Horn is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Molly McCaslin, her first granddaughter.

Lori Karian enjoyed a trip to Oregon wine country.

Mark and Shannon Flynn are back from a week in New York City.

Brenda Rees went to Dallas for her birthday.

Kathy Fly Bridges went to San Francisco.

Tricia Northcutt is home from a trip to Indiana.

JoAnn Graham is planning a trip to Texas for a reunion.

Ada Barnes Mitchell visited Boston last week.

Nancy Veldman went to Mississippi.

Deidra Stange went to the British Virgin Islands. Would you adopt me?

Jenny and Tom King are the new owners of Central Square Records at Seaside.

Sorry to see Unleashed bakery going out of business.

Members of the local Adventure Club will join the West Florida Wheelmen and Friends of Roger Grooter’s in a 10-mile Ride of Silence tomorrow in Pensacola in memory of one of their own who was killed on his bike last week near Panama City while on a bike ride to bring attention to the devastation caused by the Gulf oil spill. Sympathy is expressed to Roger’s widow, Vicki.

Sympathy is expressed to Brad and Holly Speight in the loss of their sweet Max.

Wish a “happy birthday” today to David Smith, David Swift, and Ali Barrett.

Sunday to Phil Kiser and Joann Saucier.

Monday to Annie Lockamy, and Ronnie McBrayer.

Tuesday to Nancy Veldman, Karen Wagner, Michael Granberry, and Beth Coppedge. This day would also have been the birthday of the late great Woodie Long.

Wednesday to Michel Thibault.

Thursday to Deborah Orr.

And Friday to Mary Moses, Stephen Ladow, and John Broussard.
