PARTY LINE: And a happy Valentine's Day was had by all

Isn't Valentine's Day fun? It's a cute day that falls in the cold of winter just to brighten it up, I think. And when it falls on the weekend, it's extra sweet because you can make it into an all-weekend celebration.

Preferring a small celebration, I enjoyed a cozy dinner of surf and turf, some fine wine, then visited The Vue and ran into some friends enjoying their Valentine's Day there. Scott Henderson and Allison Craft, Michele and Jack Silberman and friends, Chick and Cathy Huettel, Bett and Paul Appel, Didon Comer and Hank White, and John Stasko were there.

Zandra Wolfgram, Mary Kay Samouce, Cara Roy, Tracy Louthain, and Mike and Stacey Brady enjoyed Valentine's out at Bud & Alley's for Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation's BEach My Valentine party to support art education.

By Sunday, the sun had come out and warmed us up enough that many celebrated by heading to the beach. I saw Mose Hayes and his daughters, Michele Silberman, and Carl and Janice Fedkenheur at the pool Sunday, and many more people out enjoying a walk on the sand.

Speaking of the Fedkenheurs, the couple reported seeing Sheryl Crow dining at Crust three weeks ago. Vickie and Ray Dollar were also there.

It was a fun experience last Saturday morning to be at the gym and see everyone gather around the TV to watch the Olympics ice hockey game. There was a lot of cheering going on, including a group of young men who made their way through the gym carrying a large U.S. flag and cheering "U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A."

Betty Cork opened her beautiful WaterSound home to 31 members of the Women's Art Network last week for their monthly social. I hear the ladies loved the main chicken dish. Jackie Lynch, Lori Drew, Susan Lucas, Donnelle Clark, Donna Vann, Dorothy Starbuck, Melody Bogle, and Peggy Jones were some who enjoyed.
