Dread Clampitt on a rainy Sunday is good for the locals.

On rainy Sunday afternoons you have a choice of spending the time napping, reading, or heading to The Red Bar for some Dread Clampitt. I opted for some Dread and I think I made the best choice. When Dread is onstage, the locals come out to play. Lorre James, Dwight Ward, John Stasko, Mark Thompson, Wayne Carlisle, William Schissler, Duke Bardwell, Debbie and Megan Weant, Will Barber and Pat Carlyle, and former Sen. Trent Lott and his family also made that choice. Band member Kyle Ogle grinned from ear to ear as he talked about his new baby boy.

On the drive home from The Red Bar, I had the honor of assisting a shiny-backed Eastern soft shell turtle make it safely across the street.

I enjoyed dinner at the Sandestin Marina last Friday night with Marinella and Robert Monk, and Sandy and Greg Buckley. Lisa, Paul and Abbie Reaves were there also enjoying the outdoors, view, and music. The fried oyster salad was yummy.

Gulf Place homeowners held a meet and greet at The Vue Monday evening. Among those attending were Sharon Thompson, Tom Saffel, Jane and Doug Anderson, Mike and Carol Stovsky, Betty Krika, Michelle and Tom Fillingim, Joe, Kathy and Erin Perry, Kate Alexander, Ken and Marie Wade, Claudia Droy, Lorene Gruzdis, Greg and Beverly Schmitt, Ed and Donna Macdonald, Carla Ravarino, and Bill and Cheryl Freeze. The Freezes were returning from a trip to Birmingham.

A group of ladies from the Santa Rosa Beach Club swim team went to dinner at Compass Rose in Valparaiso last week and to Northwest Florida State College to see "Menopause, the Musical." "It was hilarious!" said Susan Lucas. The group included Boni Rekas, Sue Bryant, Barbara Young, Betty Letcher, Linda Rountree, Pam Tedesco, Kim Pataky, Lois Hoyt, Shari Roberts, Sally Sullivan, and Susan Lucas.

Donnelle Clark, Carol Lench, Debbie Weant, and Beth Coppedge surprised birthday girl Peggy Jones last Tuesday when they treated her to a birthday lunch at George's.
