The tourists are gone, but the calendars are full with a full slate of events for locals.

Last Thursday night was Proffitt PR's Girls Night Out Arabian style at Elephant Walk to benefit Shelter House, and The Art of Giving benefiting Food For Thought at Justin Gaffrey gallery. Amber Wiebe, Sara Becnel, Annie Lockamy, Claudia Caswell, Rhonda Murray, Jeanette Miller, Lynn Wesson, Honey Harris, Hilary Butler, Lesan Gouge, Whitney Ladwig, and Jami Ray were some of the many ladies who enjoyed Arabian Nights.

Ray and Vickie Dollar, Linda Miller, Madra and Phil McDonald, Mike Ragsdale, Cynthia Kennedy, Gillian Lee, Allison Wickey, Tiffanie Shelton, Mindy Norris, Keen Polakoff, Paige Schnell, Susan Benton, Christy Milliken, Demetrius Fuller, Joyce Hogue, Deidra and Mike Stange, Lisa Burwell, Mary Kay Samouce, Laura and Michael Granberry, Claire Bannerman, Jenny Etheredge, and Jackie Ward were some who attended The Art of Giving, which raised $90,000 for the Food for Thought charity.

Friday night was the annual Hurricane Party to benefit Children's Volunteer Health Network, which was held at Bud & Alley's. Vickie and Ray Dollar attended that one also.

Hilary and Allen Butler, Kent and Peggy Lillie, John and Debbi Morris, and Regina and Frank Hall enjoyed dinner at Crust last Friday night.

I finally made it to Seaside by bike last Sunday! My companion and I set out on the 6-mile trek (one way) after church Sunday morning and made it within an hour, which we didn't think was bad for first timers. Breakfast at Modica's of a chicken biscuit really hit the spot. I enjoyed seeing Rebecca Sullivan, Scott Bruns, John Stasko, and Charlie Modica there.

Nina Horn, Lauren Rees, and Paul and Sandy Luchtefeld attended Brenda Rees's Toast to San Miguel gathering Sunday evening.
