People choose to ring in a new year in a variety of different ways. I chose to ring it in quietly this year with a few close friends. I dined on surf and turf at The Vue's early seating New Year's Eve, as did Summer Wheeler, John Stasko, Keith and RoseAnn Knight, Aaron Jackson, Sandy and Greig Buckley, Ron and Jackie Hart. Ed and Donna Macdonald and Jane Been took the late seating.
Before the new year arrived, Diane Smith opened her newly redecorated Gulf Place home Dec. 28 to her neighbors for a soiree. Keith and RoseAnn Knight attended.
Lane and Brenda Rees hosted the ninth annual Walton County birthday celebration at their home on Eastern Lake Dec. 29 for a sunset toast. Brenda's mom, her grandmother, Susan and Donal Alfieri, Andrea Alfieri, Lauren and Paul Wolfe, Bob and Lynney Conklin, and Summer Wheeler attended.
The party of the year for the 30A Posse was held Dec. 30 at the home of Dana and Tom Saffel in Gulf Place. Around 100 people attended this year's New Year's Adam hat party, including Jimmy and June Milam, Keith and RoseAnn Knight, Debbie and Megan Weant, Candace Abuvala, Judy Foster, Mark Caraway, Meg Warrington, Bett and Paul Appel, Didon Comer and Hank White, Karen and Maunsel White, Sandy and Paul Luchtefeld, Harriet Crommelin and Stephen Marlette, Beth and Bob Coppedge, Brenda and Jim Radtke, Mike and Carol Stovsky, William Schissler and Dana Juselin, Lorene Gruzdis, Ed and Donna Macdonald, Claudia and Brad Droy, Michelle and Tom Fillingim, Lillian and Randy Torrey, Redd and Paul Vizard, Ladie Bea and Wayne Carlisle, Tom Hopkins, Georgeen Newell and Ken Golden, Ginny Jones and Dan Mueller, Carla Ravarino, Sherri and Mike McCarty, Mary Elsberry, Tracy Welker, Barbara Pierce-Smith, Gillian and Gerry Lee, Keen and Kim Polakoff, Betty Krika, Jim and Bert Summerville-Kain, and Summer Wheeler. I believe a fun time was enjoyed by all.
Beth Coppedge's mother, Lorraine, celebrated her 94th birthday on New Year's Eve. Part of her celebration was going to 723 Whiskey Bravo to hear Geoff McBride sing. He announced to the audience that he sang happy birthday to her mom on her 90th birthday and now he would do it again. The birthday girl danced to Geoff's next tune.
