After 14 years, I finally joined the bikers on 30A last Saturday. With more years than I like to own not having set my foot on a pedal except at the gym, the experience was interesting. I made it from Gulf Place to Blue Mountain , which I thought was pretty good for a first go, and could have gone farther if not for having to fight off the yellow flies. They do love me. Jimmy Milam was kind enough to come over and zap the biggest bite with an electrical charge, which he said is a sure-fire cure.

In Blue Mountain , we stopped in at Marie's Bistro for breakfast. Marie and Hanie are so hospitable. I ordered Marie's egg and cheese burrito with salsa and my companion had her breakfast sandwich. Both were divine! We also saw Wayne Carlisle, Dan Mueller, and Barron and Nancy Strother there. So good to see them!

I saw Mona Howard and her cute boys at the pool again last weekend.

Tony Lange welcomed all four of his kids and their families to the beach for Father's Day.

I am sorry to lose Joe and Carolyn Ausley to D.C. They have sold their home at Sandestin and are moving back "home" to D.C. permanently. They have been very active in raising money for Sacred Heart during their 10 years here. John Stasko invited them to his home for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres to say goodbye. Safe travels to you, Ausleys. You will be missed.

The "Three Wise Men" of wine just returned from a buying trip to Italy , where they visited wineries in Veneto , Piedmont and Tuscany . Bob Montgomery, Michel Thibault, and Chan Cox visited the beautiful estate of Castello Banfi with its founder Pam Mariani. Pam's daughter, Christina, owner of Castello Banfi and estate director, will highlight the South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival next spring.

Bob and Georgiea Johnson have returned from a Mediterranean cruise where they took in the sights of Turkey and the Holy Land .
