UPDATED: Passenger identified in fatal, fiery Interstate 10 crash

WALTON COUNTY — Two people died Thursday morning in a single-vehicle accident near mile marker 93 on Interstate 10.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol media release, the driver of a 2004 Toyota Camry, whose name has not been released pending next of kin notification, and passenger Everett Delroy Nation, 22, of Palm Bay, Fla., were both killed after being ejected from their vehicle.

The car was traveling westbound in the inside lane around 7 a.m. when the driver drove through standing water causing the car to lose control, the release said.

The car hydroplaned into the median, striking three pine trees and catching on fire, according to FHP Lt. Ken Salter.

Both the driver, of Titusville, Fla., and Nation were not wearing seatbelts and were then ejected from the vehicle.

The accident closed one westbound lane around 7:20 a.m.

An investigation whether the wreck was alcohol related is pending, the release said. The vehicle sustained about $6,000 in damages.

Walton County Fire Rescue and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
