Responders rescue one, search for second after boat capsizes in Bay (UPDATE)


First responders are on-scene to respond to a call of a capsized boat east of Hwy. 331 bridge. The first passenger was recovered, and the search is still on for the second.

10/31 9:30 a.m. UPDATE from Walton County Sheriff's Office

Wendy Ammons with WCSO said the Sheriff's Office has its Mobile Incident Management and Communications Unit on-scene, as well as two boats searching for the still-missing man. FWC as well has a boat out searching. The Walton County Sheriff's Office will send up a helicopter around 10 a.m., according to a lieutenant on-scene. 

Again, as more information becomes available, we will let you know.

Just a brief update—

Our guys are back out today assisting in the search for the missing boater.  FWC is also out with them.  They started the search this morning a few minutes after 7 a.m.

The exact time is not known, but at some point their 14-foot aluminum boat began to take on water and then roll, according to Stan Kirkland, spokesman with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
