BONIFAY-- The South Walton Seahawk offense scored and scored often to spoil the Holmes County Blue Devils homecoming with a 55-40 district football victory.

"The difference was the offense," said South Walton Coach Phil Tisa. "We just continued to score.

"We went to a football game and it turned into a track meet."

South Walton junior quarterback Johnathon Ortner put up some stellar numbers completing 21 of 39 passes for 405 yards and four touchdowns. Junior Alex Smith was on the receiving end of two of those TD catches, the first a 61-yard strike in the first half, and a 67-yarder in the second half. Vinnie Ciurleo had a 25-yard catch for a touchdown and Zach Lance had the other TD catch, a 23-yarder in the fourth quarter.

Not only did the Seahawks get the job done through the air, but also on the ground rolling up 236 yards. Senior running back Zach Reese was the workhorse with 141 yards in 19 carries, including a 44 yard touchdown run. Ortner rushed 14 times for 66 yards, and the first TD of the game on a 29-yard scamper right up the middle on a fake.

The Blue Devils had their best game of the season putting 40 points on the board; all scored by junior tailback Chad Leavins. Leavins rushed 28 times for 349 yards and five TD on the ground. He also had a catch for a 54-yard score.

"They (Holmes) had a great game plan and we made some mental mistakes, it's just one of those things," Tisa said.
