Lisa Woodruff Hinds has worked in the area as an artist for two decades.

In 2002 her husband followed her expert example, picked up her brushes and began creating artwork of his own.

A sportsman, horse farm owner, fisherman, and charter boat captain, this untrained self-taught artist amazed his family, friends, and all who saw his work with his natural feel and talent for expressing himself on canvas.

The flow of expression comes so naturally and prolifically that it now consumes him as he spends eight to 10 hours a day at the easel.

Hinds' artwork has been carried by area galleries for years, and his following has steadily increased to the point that he needed a place of his own.

Gordie Hinds Contemporary Art gallery held its official grand opening celebration last weekend at its location on the northeast corner of the Early Morning Hours district in Seaside, next to Quincy art supplies. The event coincided with Seaside's monthly first Friday art walk. Lisa will manage the gallery and plans to create some new masterpieces of her own to join her husband's on the wall. While Gordie's passion for art developed later in life, Lisa says she has been an artist her whole life — "ever since I could hold a paintbrush."
