PARTY LINE: On Cantore alert as the Beaches of South Walton garner lots of press

I see where Jeff Archer and YOLO boarding had a spread in last week’s Florida Trend online magazine.

Tom Losee, co-founder of YOLO Board, was featured as a guest on Peter Greenberg Worldwide on April 3. The radio host and travel editor for CBS News broadcast his radio show from Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Losee discussed the sport of stand-up paddling and why Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast is touted among the SUP destinations around the world.

Seaside, WaterColor, Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach are featured prominently in the new print issue of "Arkansas Life" magazine pages 60-65, reports Mike Ragsdale.

South Walton and 30A were also featured in Sunday’s Miami Herald in the story “New Panama City airport could stir Gulf Coast’s sleepy way of life.”

Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa was featured in Accent on Tampa Bay Magazine’s spread on the Beaches of South Walton. The reporters took a photo of the stunning view of the sunset from one of the Hilton’s decks.

Demetrius Fuller found himself standing in line with The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore at Publix last week. Demetrius said he didn’t realize how vertically challenged Cantore is. Cantore was busy sampling the offerings of Boar’s Head.

The word on the street is that Mike Huckabee is building a house in Blue Mountain Beach.

Ellen and Gerhard Zamorano, who have a home in Seagrove Beach, enjoyed dinner at Firefly in Panama City last Wednesday night. Gerhard recognized golfer Nancy Lopez at the table next to them. The couple discreetly confirmed with their waiter that it was Lopez.

Pete Foley was in Birmingham this week for the Travel South Showcase with 650 tourism professionals who promote travel to the 12 Southeastern states.

My first born called me from a restaurant in Tuscaloosa this week to tell me that former Pulitzer Prize winner Rick Bragg was dining at a table 10 feet from her.

Southwest Airlines has a new commercial out featuring our beautiful beaches.

Enjoying a fun evening of tapas and bidding on auction items to benefit Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast at Sunday’s soiree at Baytowne’s Magnolia Ballroom were the Calendar Girls of 30A, Carolyn and Joe Ausley, Bill and Lois Berberich, Denise and John Dobelek, Dale Riley, Myra and Michael Williams, Gerry and Judy Christman, Marie McKenna, Tony Lange, Carol Rankin, Andy Salmon, Peter and Stephanie Burke, John and Fran Reagan, Joe and Jan Stanko, Carol and Bob Saucier, and Chuck Simpson, among a host of others. The Sauciers returned from a trip to Evanston, Ind., in time to attend. The Christmans had just gotten off the boat from taking a Princess cruise. The sushi at the event was some of the best I have had.

My fellow diners and I were very pleasantly surprised last weekend when we dined for the first time at Bluz next to Copper Grill. We all ordered different items and all left raving about the food and service.

Lighthouse Family Retreat’s screening of “Letters to God” raised enough money to send a family with childhood cancer to the beach.

Congratulations to Tracy Louthain on her appointment as interim director of Walton County’s Tourist Development Council.

Rick Talbert headed to Tallahassee for FFCA business, legislative meetings and the fire service awards ceremony at the Capitol.

Sharon Jenkins is back from a weekend in Tally for the FSU Spring Game with 51,000 other supporters. Halftime activities featured a flag game with all of the old pro players from FSU. Sharon is now heading to Virginia after Seagrove Garden Club comes to visit her garden.

Donnie Sundal is a busy man. He headed to Nashville on Tuesday to master Dread Clampitt’s new CD, was back on Thursday to play at Shorty’s in Grayton Beach, was with Eric Lindell at the seventh annual Torre Rosa at WaterSound to benefit the South Walton Montessori School, and he joins Eric again today at Sundog Books at Seaside. Donnie will then be at a private event in Hattiesburg, Miss., but back on Sunday in time to play at his church in the morning and at Shorty’s tomorrow night.

Sean Dietrich visited the Atl.

Alabama Charlie is back from three days of racing at Barber Motorsport Park.

Cindy Jeselnik enjoyed a trip to NYC.

Bett Appel hosted the monthly meeting of Women’s Art Network at her home Monday night. About 38 local women artists attended, each showing a piece of their original artwork. Among them were three juried-in artists for Arts Quest 2010, which will be held Mother’s Day weekend at Seaside – June Holm, Dorothy Starbuck and Linda Kernick. Other artists attending included Betty Cork, Donna Vann, Donnelle Clark, Peggy Jones, Didon Comer, Nan Ream, A.J. Kleindolph, Carol Dixon and Becky Broderick.

Linda Miller said she had the best Easter in years with both her children and all five of her "grands," her mother and dad, her brother and niece.

Ladd Goodson has a new granddaughter, Kendall Anne Wilkerson, born March 26. She joins her 2.5-year-old brother, Lance Jr. They are the children of daughter, Crystal.

Margie Jordan’s daughter Melanie enjoyed a three-day birthday soiree this week for her double sweet 16.

Wish a “happy birthday” today to Nikki Nickerson.

Tomorrow to Mario McNally.

Tuesday to Suzette DeJarnette and Ed Walborsky.

Wednesday to Billy Buzzett and Pat Abruzzo.

Thursday to Jeff Miller, Angela Triplett, and Scott Provow.

And Friday to Bill Evett, Todd Vucovich, and Steve Sunday.
