Sinfonia to benefit from two events

On Nov. 14, Grayt Grounds of Monet Monet will be the host site for a joint fundraiser benefiting two local charities: Alaqua Animal Refuge and Sinfonia Gulf Coast.

The event is Artists for Animals.

Admission of $50 allows attendees access to chow stations, an open bar, and the opportunity to bid on donated artwork.

More than 40 local artists, including Walton County's new Artist of the Year Mary Hong, are donating pieces of their work, which will be up for auction during the event.

Participating artists were asked to create a painting portraying a musical or animal theme, or both.

A small group of Sinfonia musicians will perform a piece from the musical "Peter and the Wolf," which was originally written for a woodwind quintet. There will also be a narrator, and because Alaqua is a no-kill shelter, in this version, the duck lives happily ever after on Alaqua Pond.

All food and alcohol is being donated and all artwork will be auctioned with proceeds split 50/50 between the two organizations.
