Sunday is that one day a year set aside to celebrate our moms and say thank you.

Several South Waltoners were eager to share a memory of their mothers and what they hope for this Sunday.

"My mom enjoyed the most simple of things: kicking a pile of leaves in fall, swimming in the Gulf, watching her grandchildren play, lunch with friends every Sunday after church, a good clean joke, and I enjoyed watching her enjoying herself," said Jackie Cox.

As for herself, Cox said a great Mother's Day gift would be for her niece, Caitie, to deliver her new baby boy.

"What a treat to welcome a new generation and celebrate the creation of a new mother on Mother's Day," she said.

"I feel so blessed that I still have my mother," said Lorre James. "She always had to work when I was growing up but I rarely saw her lose her temper even though I know my brother and I were a handful and she was totally overwhelmed. Her cooking was amazing! I was so spoiled by all of her meals and special desserts! She allowed me in the kitchen and constantly shared cooking tips. Then, when my daughter was born, she allowed Lindsey in the kitchen to "help." Now that I am older, we still cook together and create new memories. As a mom, all I really want this Mother's Day is to chat on the phone with my daughter for a while. I miss her and it always hits me hard that we never get to spend Mother's Day together. But I look forward to her being here in a few weeks."

Billie Gaffrey's favorite memory of her mom was how happy she was to see her after school every day. The one thing she would like to receive for this Mother's Day would be to see her mom after school again.
