Four DeFuniak Springs residents killed in car crash identified

DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — The Florida Highway Patrol has released the names of four men killed in a vehicle accident on Interstate 10 in Jackson County on Oct. 10.

They were Ernan Diaz Jimenez, 15; Alfonso Mendez Lopez, 20; Miguel Santiz Delacruz, 24; and Domingo Diaz Gomez, 45, according to the FHP. All of them were from DeFuniak Springs.

They were buried last week, according to obituaries from the Cary Glenn Funeral Homes Web site.

According to the FHP, 22-year-old Zubon Sims of Blountstown was driving west on I-10 about 6:30 a.m. when he lost control of his truck. The truck veered across the median into the eastbound lanes and collided with a Nissan Sentra that Lopez was driving.

The investigation is continuing, according to the FHP.
