Evening fire damages DeFuniak Springs home
DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — Fire Marshal's are investigating the cause of a fire at a home on Colquit Street.
First responders were on the scene of the home fire around 6 p.m. and worked for nearly four hours Tuesday evening.
DeFuniak Springs Fire Chief Brian Coley said the fire started in a bedroom. The single-story home suffered severe damages, but Coley said it was not a total loss.
"Our guys did a great job out there," Coley said. "If it hadn't been for them the home would have been destroyed."
The residents were not home at the time of the fire.
Walton County Fire Rescue and Argyle Volunteer Fire assisted on the scene.
